On December 5, 2012, Senator Grassley spoke on the floor of the Senate in support of HR 6429, the STEM Jobs Act of 2012. In his remarks, he discusses how the bill “would move our immigration system toward one in which we reward the best and brightest of the world with the chance to remain, live and work in this country.” The Senator also mentioned that he has long supported a need to “enhance and expand” legal avenues for U.S. employers to hire foreign workers. He also mentioned that while he wants to root out fraud and abuse from a number of existing visa programs, he is supportive of finding ways to allow individuals to enter the country though legal means.
