Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Specialist to support the needs of our growing organization.  This candidate will be a member of the dynamic Immigration Services team and will ensure the delivery of immigration tools, resources, updates and alerts.  This candidate will foster a collaborative team environment and a strong service- oriented culture that ensures delivery of efficient, effective, quality driven services.  The Sr. Immigration Specialist must also be able to successfully manage, prioritize competing requests and achieve customer SLAs.  The best candidates will have a reputation for understanding the Immigration Process, be extremely organized, possess strong verbal and written communication skills, have an ability to prioritize their time, demonstrate pushback and a sense of urgency, and understand the value of providing amazing customer service.
 
Responsibilities include:
 
  • Day-to-day administration of global corporate immigration program.
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to identify and resolve immigration-related issues.
  • Facilitate on-going education for HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, foreign nationals, and employee managers on various immigration topics and current developments.
  • Support recruiters, hr and business managers on case assessments and strategies for employees.
  • Plan and execute effective communications strategy to convey timely immigration updates.
  • Ensure corporate compliance with government regulations.
  • Build internal partnerships to ensure the immigration program meets the needs of our partners and clients.
  • Review program policy, process, and practice on a regular basis to maintain immigration program’s competitiveness within the industry.
  • Maintain current knowledge of immigration legislation/regulation and participate in re-engineering of program in response to new compliance requirements.
  • Oversee the vendor relationship, including providing feedback to the vendor regarding service levels and overall partnership.
  • Communicate to foreign nationals regarding all stages of their nonimmigrant and immigrant status (including documentation, strategy, case progression).
  • Continually review immigration procedures and legal status of foreign national employees.
  • Work closely with outside counsel on the strategy and details for all cases and associated employer-sponsored petitions.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc reporting on metrics and trending and work on ad-hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications:
 
  • BA/BS required
  • At least 5 years of employment- based immigration experience as a Paralegal or Immigration Specialist either at a law firm or in-house, managing nonimmigrant (H, L, E, TN) and immigrant (PERM, I-140, I-485) cases
  • Strong computer skills, specifically in MS Office products i.e. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Sharepoint
  • Must be able to work effectively under pressure and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationship with all internal contacts/coworkers
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain confidentiality, ability to prioritize many tasks and complete tasks with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Possess strong problem solving skills and take initiative in managing special projects

  • Experience managing immigration case loads of 800+ employees
  • Experience working for a large multinational organization
  • Experience with delivery of global immigration services
  • Demonstrated flexibility working in a dynamic and changing organization
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks concurrently with emphasis on attention to detail
  • Must be a highly motivated self-starter and be able to work with a minimal supervision
