ACIP Applauds President Obama for Streamlining Tourist Visa Processing and Entry, Urges Expansion to Trusted Employers

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) today released the following statement to commend President Obama for an Executive Order announced yesterday to fast-track tourist visas and airport entry for pre-approved, low-risk visitors, and to encourage him to extend increased efficiencies to Trusted Employers as well:

We applaud the President for creating processing efficiencies yesterday for certain international travelers, and we encourage him to do the same for U.S. employers with a Trusted Employer system.  Both measures can contribute to America’s image as a welcoming place to do business, which ultimately grows our economy and creates jobs.

By recognizing those employers that have a demonstrated record of immigration compliance with more predictable and efficient visa processing, a Trusted Employer system would free limited government resources to more closely scrutinize employers who are less known to immigration officials – and by reducing uncertainty, would free employers’ time to focus on growing their businesses.  A Trusted Employer system is a win-win for the government and for America’s employers, and we encourage the Administration to enact such a system without delay.
