"What do Californians want to hear from President Barack Obama in Tuesday's State of the Union address?
As the president prepares to take the podium at 6 p.m. PST for his final State of the Union before he asks the Union to re-elect him, most people say they want to hear him chart a path back to prosperity for all. Jobs... At the least, a release from post-recession gloom.
"...'You lose Silicon Valley employers and even our sophisticated employees when we hear rhetoric like, 'Don't ship our jobs overseas', when any successful company competing globally needs people in those facilities around the globe'," Guardino [Silicon Valley Leadership Group President and CEO] said, adding he also wants the president to talk about regulatory, corporate tax and immigration reform.
The latter will be important to Brazilian-born Mike Krieger, of San Francisco, co-founder of fast-growing iPhone photo app Instagram. Here on an H-1B high-skilled worker visa, he's seeking a green card and will hear the president's speech as a special guest alongside first lady Michelle Obama."
