ACIP Applauds USCIS Director Mayorkas for Agency Efforts Encouraging Job Creation and Economic Growth

Recent Agency Initiatives Will Allow U.S. Employers to Grow Jobs and Drive Innovation

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) today applauded U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Alejandro Mayorkas for his leadership and the work by his agency to create an environment that fosters economic growth and where U.S. employers are able to drive job creation. During the past 12 months, USCIS has taken a number of steps to help ensure that the U.S. immigration system is one that encourages innovation and economic prosperity, including:

  • Improved processes for adjudication of petitions filed by businesses requesting L-visa Intracompany Transferees;
  • Reversal of the I-797 receipt notice change;
  • Postponement of final rule issuance on the proposed H-1B advanced registration process;
  • Streamlining and enhancement of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program;
  • Clarified policies to reflect the availability of the H-1B visa and the EB-2 national interest waiver to foreign-born entrepreneurs; and
  • Creation of a new “Entrepreneurs in Residence” initiative.

ACIP and its members specifically called for action on several of these initiatives.

“We applaud Director Mayorkas for leading USCIS to advance measures that give America and U.S. employers greater opportunity to drive economic growth and job creation,” said ACIP Executive Director Lynn Shotwell. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Director and USCIS to create a U.S. immigration system that keeps America competitive and a world leader in innovation.”
