Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today welcomed the introduction of the “Supplying Knowledge Based Immigrants and Lifting Levels of STEM (SKILLS) Visas Act’’ as an important step forward toward broader reform of the U.S. immigration system. The strategic affiliates specifically praised the inclusion of a Trusted Employer program to increase processing efficiency in the U.S. immigration system.

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today welcomed bipartisan passage of the “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013” (S. 744) by the Senate Judiciary Committee, commending provisions that will improve the employment-based green card system to attract top world talent, but expressing strong concern with the changes made to the employment verification system and overall system efficiency issues.

ACIP and SHRM Praise Senate Progress on Immigration Reform

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today commended introduction of the “Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act of 2013,” legislation to fix the broken U.S. immigration system, and singled out for praise the tireless efforts of the bipartisan Senate ‘Gang of Eight’ and their staff to advance these critical reforms.

State of the Union and Republican Response Display Bipartisan Interest in Immigration Reform As A Priority This Year

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) released the following statement applauding President Obama for emphasizing the need for comprehensive immigration reform this year during his annual address to the nation:

ACIP and SHRM Welcome Bipartisan Comprehensive Immigration Reform Efforts

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) today welcomed the release of two sets of comprehensive immigration reform principles, one from the White House and one from a group of Democratic and Republican Senators, and urged all stakeholders to work together to enact meaningful, sensible and bipartisan reforms this year.

ACIP Releases Employer Principles for Immigration Reform

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP), representing more than 220 U.S. employers across the country, today released principles for immigration reform, which provide policy solutions for modernizing the astonishingly outdated U.S. immigration system, which, if not reformed, threatens U.S. economic growth and job creation.
 
“With immigration being a top priority for Congress and the administration this year, we hope these principles will help guide policymakers as they work to reform the U.S. system,” said ACIP Executive Director Lynn Shotwell. “ACIP and its members look forward to working with lawmakers on bipartisan solutions that will help U.S. employers boost economic prosperity and sustain job growth.”

ACIP Applauds USCIS Effort to Streamline U.S. Immigration System

Washington, D.C. – The American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) today applauded U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) for its effort to streamline regulations with the release of the first volume of its newly centralized USCIS Policy Manual. Intended to replace the current Adjudicator’s Field Manual and USCIS Policy Memoranda website, the new Policy Manual will concentrate all immigration laws and regulations in one location, which should save employers time and resources.
