The Government of India Issues New Employment Visa Guidelines

The Indian government recently issued guidelines for business and employment visas, including: the latest set of criteria for employment visas, a clarification of the maximum validity and extension periods for business visas, as well as in-country registration requirements for business visa holders.  According to the recent guidelines, most business visas may be issued to U.S. nationals for ten years, and nationals of most other countries for a total validity period of up to five years.  The guidelines also limit the number of foreign workers seeking employment visas  in sectors outside of information technology to under 1% of their workforce, or fewer than 20 total workers, whichever is less.
