ACIP Applauds President Obama for Supporting Reform of U.S. Immigration System to Better Welcome World’s Best and Brightest

Washington, D.C. – American Council on International Personnel (ACIP) Executive Director, Lynn Shotwell, today released the following statement praising President Obama for his remarks in support of measures to welcome more highly educated foreign-born innovators to America as part of bipartisan comprehensive immigration reform efforts.  The President gave his vision for reform and urged Congress to address fixing our broken immigration system in a speech today at American University.

The members of ACIP applaud President Obama for his passionate call today for a U.S. immigration system that opens America’s door to the world’s top talent and innovators.

As the President pointed out, America is a magnet for the world’s best and brightest.  We must ensure that it continues to draw the next generation of scientists, researchers, medical professionals, engineers and entrepreneurs who have traditionally driven and will continue to drive strong economic growth and U.S. job creation.
We thank the President for his leadership today on an issue that is critically important to the members of ACIP and to the future of our nation, and we support efforts to move forward in a bipartisan way to enact sensible comprehensive immigration reform that includes a fix to the employment-based visa and green card systems this year.
